Lot Tracker

Full lot-level traceability from supplier to shelf. Track every batch through production, manage expiration dates, and run mock recalls in minutes instead of days — so you're always audit-ready.

Lot Tracker gives you full lot-level traceability from supplier to shelf. Every batch is tracked through production with one-up-one-down chain of custody, FSMA 204-compliant Key Data Elements, expiration date management, and the ability to run a mock recall in minutes instead of the days it would take with spreadsheets. When an auditor from SQF, BRC, or a major retailer asks 'show me every customer who received lot 2024-0847,' you pull it up in seconds instead of scrambling. Built for CPG operator founders in food and beverage who need to stay audit-ready at all times but don't have a compliance team — just themselves and a binder of COAs. Currently in development; request beta access to get notified when it launches.

When does Lot Tracker launch?
Currently in development. Request beta access at starch.site and we will notify you when it is available. We are building this based on real operator founder feedback — if you have specific needs, tell us during the beta signup.
What is FSMA 204 compliance and do I need it?
FSMA 204 is the FDA's food traceability rule that requires certain food businesses to maintain records linking each lot to where it came from (one-up) and where it went (one-down). It applies to most food manufacturers, processors, and distributors — if you make or sell food in the US, you likely need it. Lot Tracker tracks the required Key Data Elements automatically.
How fast can I run a mock recall?
Minutes, not days. Enter the lot number or production date, and Lot Tracker shows every supplier lot that went into it, every customer shipment that contained it, and the full chain of custody. Most food safety auditors expect you to complete a mock recall in under 4 hours — Lot Tracker gets you there in under 30 minutes.
Does it handle expiration date management?
Yes. Every lot carries an expiration or best-by date, and Lot Tracker sends FEFO (first-expired-first-out) alerts across all inventory locations. It flags lots approaching expiration so you can markdown, redirect, or dispose before they expire on the shelf.
Can it link supplier lot numbers to my finished goods?
Yes. You link raw material lots (from your supplier COAs) to the finished goods lots produced from them. This is the one-up-one-down traceability that auditors and FSMA 204 require.
What audit certifications does it support?
It generates documentation formatted for SQF, BRC, and major retailer audit programs (Whole Foods, Costco, Target, etc.). The documentation is always current because it's generated from live data, not a static binder you update once a year.
Do I need to scan barcodes or use special hardware?
No special hardware required. You can enter lot data manually, import from your co-packer's production reports, or use standard barcode scanners if you already have them. Lot Tracker works with whatever data entry method fits your operation.
